The Old Royal Court, dating back to the 15th century, has a rich history that began during the reigns of Kings Mircea cel Batrin and Vlad Tepes. Over time, the Court underwent several enhancements, including the addition of gardens, wooden water pipes for indoor fountains, and military fortifications.
Sadly, the Court was destroyed by fire during a war in the 18th century, leaving only the church standing. However, the church was reconstructed, and in the 19th century, the Court was fully restored, and the Chindia Tower was constructed.
The Chindia Tower stands as the most prominent feature of the Old Royal Court, offering stunning panoramic views from its 122 steps to the top. Additionally, the red brick church is an impressive structure that dominates the Court's architecture. The use of red brick is a prevalent characteristic of the Court's overall design.
