Kjetil-Andre Aamodt of Norway won his second Olympic gold medal in the super-G discipline after Albertville 1992 (he succesfully defeded his title in Turin 2006). Aamodt was not considered as a big favorite due to average results in the World Cup prior to 2002 Olympic Games. But the managed to ski tricky combination of gates in the last third of the course effectively enough to make it to the top. Many others, including first favorite Austrian Eberharter, made a big mistake there and most of them ended up out of the race.
