It was World Down Syndrome Day 2020 over the weekend - Saturday 21 March - with the theme ‘We Decide’. The day strives to create a global voice, advocate for rights, inclusion and wellbeing of people with Down Syndrome. This rings true for our Impact21 students, Shea Macdonough from our graduation interviews - “we are all human all we want is to have a fair go. The one thing I want is to be accepted and just be me.”
Our pilot program, Impact21, is a job readiness program which commenced last year at our Flinders Street campus. The first cohort of 12 students have completed internships with employer partners JB Hi-Fi, Sudexo, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Dulux and Deakin University.
