Nauryz is celebrated throughout Middle and Central Asia to commemorate the coming of Spring!

In Kazakhstan's largest city, Almaty, Nauryz is celebrated every year at Astana Square on 22 March with an open-air concert featuring popular Kazakh singers, cultural performances and an expansive street fair selling Kazakh traditional food (such as Nauryz-Kozhe), souvenirs and children's toys. There are also displays of Kazakh yurts and traditional swings known as Altybakan.

Celebrations are also held in other parts of the city including Palace of the Republic where children can get rides on camels, horses and llamas.

It was a wonderful celebration to mark the day when daylight hours is equal to the night.
