R22 Replacements – PERFORMAXTM R407F and FORANE® R427A

The Montreal Protocol outlines a timeline for the phase out of ozone depleting substances. Australia is one of the 196 countries which have ratified the protocol.

By 2016 Australia will have essentially phased out all HCFCs. R22 is an example of a HCFC which will be phased out.

In line with the Montreal Protocol, BOC has introduced 2 new refrigerants to replace R22: R407F & R427A.

Key details about R407F:
- R407F has a lower discharge temperature than R22
- No need to change TX valve for R407F on most R22 systems
- Easy retrofit from mineral oil to polyolester oil
- Less R407F refrigerant required for system compared to R22
- Cylinders are available in 9kg, 19kg and 57kg

- R427A is retrofit solution for R22
- Easy R22 retrofit process: R427A high tolerance to residual MO or AB oils
- No need to replace expensive equipment during the retrofit process
