The Game Awards, which happened last night, were amazing! After lots of criticism from last year, Geoff Keighley made some much-needed improvements just in time for the 10th anniversary!
Metaphor: ReFantazio won best narrative, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth won best score and music, and Astro Bot won game of the year! A member from Larian, the studio that made Baldur's Gate 3, spoke briefly before announcing Game of the Year, and he gave the industry some much-needed criticism.
There were plenty of HUGE announcements at the game awards! Hazelight Studios, the team behind It Takes Two and A Way Out, announced their new game, Split Fiction. The Witcher 4, Borderlands 4, and The Outer Worlds 2 were all shown off for the first time! Elden Ring Nightreign, a co-op Elden Ring spinoff by From Software, was announced! Project Centruy, a new game from RGG Studios, the same people behind Judgment and the Yakuza games, was announced. Naughty Dog, the team behind Uncharted and The Last of Us, announced a brand new IP as well!
Overall, I think it was a great night for gaming! The Game Awards usually get a ton of heat every year, and rightfully so, but I think that last night was a truly amazing event! The future of gaming is looking bright!
