A lone kayaker suffering from the beginnings of hypothermia after his craft capsized was pulled to safety by Dart RNLI volunteers.
Once aboard the inshore lifeboat, the man was wrapped in a thermal blanket and reflective sheet before being taken ashore where he was given a warm drink and seen to by paramedics. The man was able to alert the Coastguard as he was carrying a mobile phone – if you’re out kayaking, always take a means of calling for help, and keep it immediately available in case you need it.
