To celebrate the launch of the eagerly anticipated Modern Witch Tarot, creator Lisa Sterle dropped into Watkins Books to give some insight into this vivacious and contemporary deck. In a lively interview with Eleanor Tremeer, Lisa revealed the origins of the Modern Witch, explaining its similarities and differences with the Rider-Waite-Smith, and defending her decision to focus on women and non-binary people in her quest to create a diverse, body-positive, and feminist tarot.
Lisa Sterle is a comic artist who has been published by IDW, CollegeHumor, Dorkly, and many indie publishers. She has done interiors and cover art for comics including Glow and Steven Universe, and she also co-created the popular comic Long Lost.
