In this mini lesson, we will be answering the essential question: What are the different kinds of fiction books? Students review the differences between fiction and nonfiction.
Students explore various nonfiction titles that may peak their interest and provide a plethora of examples of nonfiction texts. Students review similarities between nonfiction books as well as learn a working definition of genre. Students are prompted to participate in a Non-fiction Brainstorm activity in which groups of students brainstorm together the types of genres for informational texts (for example: sports, animals, biographies, etc.)
