Severe flooding in eastern Sudan has devastated at least 20 villages and resulted in at least 30 deaths, with many more feared dead. The floods, triggered by torrential rains that overwhelmed the Arbaat Dam, have severely damaged infrastructure, affecting 50,000 people and leaving 150 to 200 missing. The disaster exacerbates Sudan's existing crisis, already strained by ongoing civil conflict. Army Chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan visited the affected areas on August 26.
