A must see top attraction, very close to Amsterdam is the Zaanse Schans.
From a distance you can already see the remarkable windmills.
It is an open air museum where the 18th and 19th centuries are brought to life.
The Zaanse Schans mills are industrial windmills. They produce cacoa, oil, paint or they saw wood.
In this video we take a look inside a mill that grinds various products to oil.
You don’t have to pay for visiting the area of the Zaanse Schans, but to take a look inside the mills they ask an enterance fee.
Therewith the expensive maintenance can be paid.
Walk throug picturesque streets with typical houses from the local area.
You maybe know the name Albert Heijn, one of the largest international supermarket chains.
We take a look inside the shop where mister Albert Heijn had his little grocery in 1887. It had twelve square meters.
Visit a traditional bakery.... or the cheese factory. They both have have shops where you can buy tradional Dutch products.
Of course the wooden shoes are not missing.
