This works on crown molding, baseboards, door frames, wainscoting, wall paneling, any where that you have trim and finish carpentry in your home. You can use spackling and caulk on wood trim, polystyrene trim and molding, and on mdf trim.

How to Use Caulk or Wood Filler and Spackling on Wood Trim, Baseboards, and Molding
For wood trim and molding, caulk should be used anywhere 2 surfaces meet - like, where 2 boards meet, where boards and a wall or ceiling meet, or where boards and molding meets.
For wood trim and molding, wood filler or spackling should be used to patch nail holes, dents, damage, or cracks on a single board or piece of molding. I prefer spackling over wood filler because it sands smooth quickly and with less effort than wood filler. But, both work.
