After the just concluded general elections, tourists are flocking back to the coastal towns as the high season kicks in.
Hoteliers are seeing impressive bookings as both local and foreign tourists take a dip in the beach resorts. The management of Jacaranda hotel in Watamu say their bed occupancy now stands at 70 percent coming as a relief after the low numbers that were experienced ahead of the elections.
Pietro Marsella, the jacaranda resort marketing manager says the authorities should now begin improving the infrastructure to create a more attractive and conducive environment for the tourists.
This is a show of the confidence by tourists in the country after the electioneering period.
