Auto bed levelling is immensely helpful for the majority of 3D printer owners. Previously I have favoured the BLtouch but it’s not necessarily the easiest option for a beginner. This TRU-LEV 600 ABL kit aims to meet that need. In making this guide, I found this kit lived up to expectations, being easy to install and very accurate.
If you disagree with my label of affordable, this is my justification. To install a BLtouch on the Ender 3, you need an Arduino UNO or USBasp to burn the bootloader, the BLtouch probe and most often a pin27 board. These parts certainly add up in price. This kit contains everything needed to burn bootloader and fit the sensor in one package.
A bootloader is a piece of software needed on your mainboard to easily update firmware over USB. The Ender 3 and 5 does not come with one by default. You only need to burn it once, and after doing so firmware can conveniently be updated via USB.
The M48 repeatability test matched my practical results, with a series of prints giving a consistent first layer.
This kit was provided free of charge for the purpose of making this guide. All opinions expressed are my own.
