M. John Chan, Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL) Hospital in Malaysia.
The PEARS surgery is a useful operation in patients with connective tissue diseases who have a small enlarging aneurysm of the aortic root. It prevents further dilatation of the aortic root and subsequent risk of aortic dissection and rupture.
