It comes after a merchant container ship distress call.
Yemen’s Houthis claim they carried out the attack after the freighter failed to respond to its warnings.
Reportedly, this was the second attack on the one ship within 24 hours.
Following the attack, Mears, one of the world’s biggest global shipping companies, has announced that for two days it will suspend its trade route up through the Red Sea.
