In a historic move, Kenyan President William Ruto's deputy has been ousted by the parliament. The Kenyan senate, which is the upper house of the parliament voted to dismiss Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from office on Thursday. The impeachment proceedings took place while Gachagua was hospitalised due to reported chest pain. His impeachment comes amid a rift with President Ruto, who has quickly moved to nominate close ally and interior minister Kithure Kindiki as his new deputy.
