I enjoy playing control decks, especially Dimir! As a control player though, there is no worse feeling than tapping out to deploy your threat in a grindy game, only to have your opponent produce the answer and stick a huge threat of their own while your shields are down. What's one way to get around this? By always having mana untapped, even as you deploy your own win cons! What's the best way of doing that? I think it might be to swap out Black with Green and engage in some good old fashioned ramping! Of course our mana dorks will help with this, but cards like Growth Spiral and Eureka Moment are tailor made for this strategy! They're honest to goodness ramp cards that put additional lands onto the battlefield while also getting us looks at extra cards: just what a control deck wants to do! With the extra lands, we'll be able to deploy our curve of excellently rated green beaters while keeping up the critical 1 or 2 mana for Spell Pierce, Decisive Denial, and Saw it Coming! We have enough counter magic to disrupt our opponents' plans if the game goes long, and we've got the Elder Gargaroths to seal the deal once we get up to 6-7 mana! It seems good on paper, but how will it work in practice in a highly pushed and interactive Pioneer meta? Let's find out! This build is a proof of concept and in early development, but the basic principle seems pretty solid!
