Tourism is at its peak in West Yellowstone, folks are exploring the city and checking out Yellowstone National Park. There’s a high probability of encountering wildlife.
But tragedy struck over the weekend, just 8 miles west of the city, when an adult grizzly bear killed a woman at the Buttermilk Trailhead.
“This is a tragic situation. Really, it’s heartbreaking,” said Morgan Jacobsen, information and education program manager with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.
Jacobsen said FWP was alerted to the situation when a hiker reported finding the woman’s body.
