Now with the COP26 climate summit starting on Monday in Glasgow, questions have been raised about the fossil fuel industry's influence over the event.
Two days ago, Shell's chief executive said he was told by organisers that the oil giant was not welcome.
But environmentalists have raised concerns over the sponsors who have been invited.
