There are big changes in Puerto Rico! Fast Ferries started operation in late 2018 in addition to the previous cargo ferries between island. February 2019, I traveled the Vieques route on both the cargo ferry and the new fast ferries to offer a full video comparison.

The only way to travel between the main island of Puerto Rico to nearby Vieques is small plane or boat. The Ferry boats are the cheapest option. Tickets must be purchased at the designated ticket booth for Culebra or Vieques island transportation, currently there is no option to buy tickets online.

This video compares the cargo ferry to the new fast ferries between the port at Roosevelt Roads in Ceiba between Vieques island.
