A dramatic scene unfolded in Minsk on Wednesday night when an unidentified driver sped through a police checkpoint to escape baton-wielding security officers.
Footage shows a car pull up at the check point.
As officers begin to surround the vehicle, the driver attempts to escape and reverses quickly, spinning the car so that it is facing against the normal flow of traffic.
Dozens of security officers now converge on the car and begin to beat the windows with batons before pulling one person from the vehicle.
The driver then speeds off the wrong way down the road through the crowds of officers attempting to stop the car.
One police officer was reportedly injured.
The driver of the vehicle was later detained, according to local reports.
President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus was sworn in Wednesday to his sixth term in office at an inaugural ceremony that was not announced in advance amid weeks of huge protests of the authoritarian leader's reelection, which the opposition says was rigged.
