Bengaluru, Nov 27 (ANI): The civic authorities are fencing Bellandur Lake in Bengaluru city to avoid the "foam" produced in the polluted water body from spilling on to roads and nearby residential areas. The lake has been polluted to the extent that flames have been seen on its surface. Water pollution, large-scale encroachment of land adjoining the water body and negligence of the administration is the reported cause of the poor health of the lake. The "foam" produced in the city's largest lake has been a perennial problem for the residents. It is formed from toxic sewage runoff and is caused by the high content of ammonia and phosphate. According to local reports, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), has said that both short and long term measures will be taken to fix the problem.
