Let’s go over some popular Japanese cat names, this time for boys.
For some unknown reason, cats tend to get food names, like:
きなこ Kinako (roasted soy flour)
ちくわ Chikuwa (fish paste tube)
ぽんず Ponzu (citrus-seasoned soy sauce)
And then probably because of how lean and mean they can look, male cats sometimes get named after legendary samurai warlords, like:
政宗 Masamune
From the one-eyed samurai warlord of north-eastern Japan known for his fashion, showmanship, and lifelong romantic relationship with his wife, 伊達政宗 Daté Masamune (1567 - 1636)
幸村 Yukimura
From the mightiest underdog samurai who charged into the enemy headquarters in his last, devastatingly outnumbered battle, 真田信繁 AKA 真田幸村 Sanada Nobushige AKA Sanada Yukimura (1567 - 1615)
謙信 Kenshin
From the warlord dubbed “God of War” with a track record of winning a lifetime total of 61 battles out of 71, 上杉謙信 Uesugi Kenshin (1530 - 1578)
信玄 Shingen
From the legendary warlord of the Japanese Alps who succumbed only to disease, 武田信玄 Takeda Shingen (1521 - 1573)
光秀 Mitsuhide
From the controversial and mysterious warlord who reshaped the course of Japanese history by betraying the would-be conquerer of Japan midway, 明智光秀 Akechi Mitsuhide (1528 - 1582).
But if you prefer to keep it on the cute side, I might recommend:
にゃん太 Nyanta
にゃん助 Nyansuke
にゃん吉 Nyankichi
こてつ Kotetsu
ちゃちゃまる Chachamaru
You’re welcome for the choice paralysis 😂!!!!
