Beryl AX is the new WiFi6 Travel Router from GL-iNet. It is powered by the Mediatek MT7981B 1.3GHz dual-core processor and 512 MB of DDR4 RAM. The router has a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet WAN port and up to 3000 Mbps WiFi 6 throughput, in which 2402 Mbps is available on the 5GHz channel and 574 Mbps is available on the 2.4GHz channel.
Inheriting the design of the predecessor, the Beryl AX also has 2 foldable antennas. The microSD connector is no longer available while the USB 3.0 remains available for External Storage or 5G/LTE USB Modem.
The Beryl AX is running on the Mediatek SDK V4. It is based on OpenWRT 21.02 with Linux kernel 5.4. For advanced users, you can manage it via LuCI Web Interface or SSH.
VPN throughput of the Beryl GL-MT3000 had been improved. According to GL-iNet, Wireguard VPN throughput can reach up to 300 Mbps and OpenVPN throughput is up to 150 Mbps.
