Ramadan takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (called Sawm) to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad, according to Islamic belief.
Throughout Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn until dusk. But according to Imam Khalid Latif, Executive Director and Chaplain for the Islamic Center at New York University, with whom Brian speaks "It's not about an empty stomach, but a full heart."
Learn about this commemorative holiday as BRIC TV's very own Brian Vines fasts for the first time, attends his first "Iftar" - the ceremony of opening your fast, and immerses us into the world of Ramadan!
