TREE CULTIVATION TECHNIQUES OF IMPORTANT TREE SPECIES

Banana is one of the important commercial crops in western zone of Tamilnadu. Recurrent
annual damage due to wind amounts to Rs.5 crore. To manage this recurrent problem,
ICFRE-IFGTB has developed windbreak Casuarina clones to protect the horticultural crops
from heavy wind and storm. The technology of windbreak clones, clones released by
IFGTB, the package of practices and economics of the plantation model are explained to
the banana growers in this module.
This video module is curated from the footages of the training program on “Tree Cultivation
Techniques of important tree species” conducted during 4-6 th January, 2023 for KVK
Personnels organized by Van Vigyan Kendra (VVK), Coimbatore of IFGTB in collaboration
with TNAU.
