B'sue Boutiques started with high hopes and dreams in the late 80's. With a baby on my hip and twenty dollars in my pocket, I set out to do something different, something that I enjoyed, something that would take me away from cleaning houses and into an enterprise filled with history, sentimentality....and eventually creativity. My son, Jordan, and I picked every flea market and every yard sale from East Palestine to Hartville, Ohio to learn the vintage trade. Eventually my friend Philomena Jones took me under her wing to show me the rudiments of 'general line' antiques. From her I learned much of what I know today about construction of jewelry and an even deeper appreciation of old things. I will never forget the words of Tom Prater, the auctioneer. Mr. Prater had taken on the estate of a very gifted woodworker to sell at auction. He said, "Tonight you will see the accumulation of a lifetime of handcraft gavel down before your eyes in a period of hours....please have some respect." His words about a lifetime of handcraft really stuck with me. Mr. Prater and Philomena are now gone, but they are only two in a succession of many mentors who taught me reams about how to fulfill a dream with research, hard work....and sharing. By the early 90's I had decided to make my own jewelry and eventually had a line of 300 pieces with 500 store accounts, and was marketed by rep groups all over the United States. Seven of us made that line in the old Messy Workshop. Then things changed yet again---I cut that line around 1999 and suspended traveling and doing shows by 2002. Instead, I thought I would rather reach many people, teach them what I'd learned from vintage jewelry and how to create that look with American made brass stampings. I have had a home on the internet at [ Ссылка ] since 1997. At B'sue Boutiques online you'll find that we have the components you need to design and make your OWN jewelry, based on design ideas and principles found in vintage jewelry. Now, at B'sue Boutiques brick and mortar store, I've taken those design ideas as well as a reprise of my vintage style jewelry gift line of the 90's to offer handmade jewelry, silk floral and novelty gifts. I also offer a bit of destash, select papers and fun components to make jewelry. We're at 42 1/2 Garfield Avenue, East Palestine, Ohio. In 2013 we'll begin to have Bead Table Wednesdays where you can come and bead/collage with me; from there we will schedule events and classes. Come see us sometime! It only took us 24 years to get here! #BSue_Boutiques
