⛱️ The beach dogs were ready to play today! We meet a German Shepherd who liked the taste of our tires, Bernese Mountain Dog who is NOT ready to go home, TWO little floofers (OK, terriers!) who were ready to play and gave us a little chase, a little English Bulldog named Deeba who fell in love with our #RoverCam, and after a VERY long chase he was sad that we had to stop. He tried everything, he nudged us forward with his nose, he cleared sand away from our tires, and he even gave us a kiss! But sadly the sun was setting, our batteries were low, and his Dad was ready to take him home.
Our rover-cam hit the sand again today to capture lots of very good dogs living their best lives - running, chasing, playing, splashing, butt-sniffing, digging, and best of all making new dog FRIENDS!! We put our high speed, high definition cameras on a beach-ready custom-built roving platform so that we can see everything from a dog's perspective.
Today we're at the always leash-free Dog Beach of Ocean Beach in San Diego, California! We had a blast - we got chased, we chased other dogs, and just drove around saying HI to all of the pups!
LOCATION: Ocean Beach Dog Beach in San Diego is a designated area where dogs are allowed to run and play off-leash. It is located in the Ocean Beach neighborhood, at the west end of Newport Avenue. The beach is open 24 hours a day, and it's a popular spot for dog owners to take their pets for a swim in the ocean or to play in the sand. There are also many local shops and restaurants that welcome dogs in the area. Be aware that all dogs must be licensed and vaccinated and it's recommended to clean up after your dog. There is ample free parking except on the busiest days and times. On those days, look at the area with Google satellite view and you will see a large free dirt parking lot a couple of blocks to the east.
This beach is normally a very busy one with off-leash dogs of many breeds, so there is plenty of opportunity for socialization. The sand and water provide a fun and stimulating environment for dogs to play and cool off. You can bring toys and play with your dog in the water or watch as they play with other dogs. The beach is usually patrolled by lifeguards, and there is a lifeguard tower at the south end of this beach. It's important to keep an eye on your dog and make sure they are safe and well-behaved, and to clean up after them. A day at the dog beach is a fun and enjoyable experience for both dogs and their owners.
Enjoy the view of the playful pups and energetic dogs of all types as the mingle, run, swim, jump, chase, dig, bark, and play on the beautiful beaches of Southern California. Even better: You see it all from a "dog's eye level", our custom-built 4 Wheel Drive #RoverCam camera platform, which joins the packs of running dogs with a top speed of almost 20 mph!
