This is a fantastic Monsters in Motion Forbidden Planet Blaster Prop Resin Kit I built from scratch. This kit is molded from an original prop so it’s very accurate. I’ve seen some great Forbidden Planet Blasters like this from a couple prop makers on YouTube, but could not get definitive info from them as to how they accomplished this with lights AND sound. Figuring this all out took a lot of research and trial and error as the whole Arduino/Neopixel engineering and programming scene is completely new to me. Thanks to the Adafruit help forum for their excellent assistance and the maker.com platform, which was the easiest interface I could find to make sense of the programming. So, I prepped and painted the kit once I had the trigger and power switches installed and the vent holes drilled and speaker mounted to the rear cover(which is attached with magnets.) I built the circuitry from Adafruit’s Audio FX sound board with built-in amplifier, Trinket Neopixel board, 12 neopixel ring daisy chained with 7 Neopixel jewel placed in the middle of the ring(to create a solid light disc), and Lipo backpack with rechargeable battery. I created the code to drive the Neopixels using the maker.com Trinket programming app and created the Robbie the Robot power up sound, “A simple blaster” and the blaster firing sounds from audio clips I captured from the film, and loaded into the Audio FX board. I’m quite happy with the result! #forbiddenplanet #robbietherobot #robbytherobot #asimpleblaster #forbiddenplanetblaster #blaster #maker #propmakersofinstagram #propmaker #scifi #scifimovies #sciencefiction #movieprops #adafruit
