This was my first time flying Frontier Airlines since 2010, if I remember correctly, and lets just say they've changed a lot since then. Frontier Airlines is considered an ultra-low cost carrier, falling in the same category as Allegiant and Spirit Airlines which all pretty much offer very cheap flights for $20-$30 one way. However, you are then often charged with many extra "hidden" fees. For both my outbound and returning flights, I paid $13 one way for my individual seat reservation. A checked in bag and carry on bag were each $40 one way per bag, however I only had a backpack for the short trip so I avoided those extra costs. Lastly, Frontier does not offer any complimentary in-flight entertainment or in-flight snack or beverage service, so keep that in mind if you are flying on a relatively longer flight as you may want to get a bite to eat beforehand. Both of my flights were around 1.5 hours so again, not too much of an issue, but it is nice to get a light complimentary snack and drink. I can't speak for Spirit or Allegiant, however I have read and heard pretty similar trends. However, I can't complain too much. The flights were smooth and relatively on time which was something I was also wary of since Frontier is not known for their on-time performance. For a short flight or even a short vacation, by yourself perhaps, and looking for a cheap flight I have to say Frontier is a good choice. I had no issues whatsoever on either of my flights with customer service or service just in general. Both of my flights were on Frontier's new Airbus A320's which also both had the new livery and new interior with slimline seats. I should also add the seats were comfortable enough for a 1.5 hour flight, however the traytables are very small, about the size of an iPad which I found very strange. The only "hiccup" I could mention was on my return flight. It originally said to go to Gate 84 (Airside 4) in Orlando when the flight actually left out of gate 16 (Airside 1), clear across the airport in a completely separate airside making me go through security twice. Knowing Orlando International Airport pretty well, I knew something was off since Frontier generally operates out of Airside 1, but there were a number of passengers who made the same mistake and were late for the flight, although we waited for them. My issue is that no announcement was made about the gate change. Other than that, I had a decent experience with Frontier Airlines and would probably fly them again if going on a short trip for a low price!
