The Licata Family wnet snorkeling in January 2024 at the Giant Clam Sanctuary near the toiwn of Savaia on the south coast of Samoa, The very largest clams are from 5-6 feet wide!

Near the end of the clip look for the many, smaller clams which, every minute or so, "shiver" or vibrate their shells - apparently to increase water circulation. These clams have interior "meat" that looks very much alive with irridescent colors of black, blue, yellow, white, etc. and - yes - they supposedly will snap shut suddenly if you touch them.
