Elizabeth Edwards and her daughter Katie (together, left) were killed in their beds at their semi-detached home in Spalding, Lincolnshire (bottom right) in a crime which shocked Britain. The pair (top right, with custody officers, in court sketch) who murdered them were just 14 at the time. They plotted the killings during an 'intense and toxic' relationship after meeting at school. They were both given indefinite detention terms today and told they would serve at least 20 years before they can apply for parole. Mrs Edwards’s partner Graham Green (inset right) and her former husband, Katie’s father Peter Edwards (inset, left), both attended today’s sentencing hearing.
