During this meeting, Alice Leung from DPR Construction and Philip Lorenzo from BIManywhere presented the application of mobile BIM tools to support inspections and coordination activities that occur in the field. They utilized a pilot study in which a superintendent’s work was analyzed. The adoption of mobile BIM technology resulted in time gains for inspections and communications in the field. The presenters described the context of the superintendent’s activities in this project, the challenges to implement the BIM model in the field, and the field work processes that the model enabled. Future studies regarding the use of BIM in the field, anticipated challenges and other applications of mobile BIM were also discussed.
