BIWTA has demanded that the railway and road bridge at Kalurghat on the Karnafuli river be made first and second class for the safety of Chittagong port and ease of navigation. The minimum height above the water level should be 40 to 60 feet to build a bridge over a river near a naval or sea port. Otherwise, the movement of ships will be disrupted.
