If you even casually pay attention to politics today, it probably seems like everyone has become either a socialist or conservative. But this state of affairs isn’t even slightly new. In fact, these theories go much further back then that – all the way back to #Plato and #Aristotle. It’s much more accurate to say that everyone is either a Platonist or an Aristotelian in their political theories.
And there’s one particular idea that haunts the socialist hive that is particular conducive to failure and, again, it’s one that Plato himself proposed in his great political manifesto, The Republic. It’s the abolition of private property. When #Marx was asked to summarize his socialist theory he narrowed it down to this one thing as well. In his manifesto, he said his theory could be summarized in this one sentence: “the abolition of private property.”
