STORYLINE:
Hundreds of Muslims in New Delhi on Saturday took part in Eid al-Fitr prayers at Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India.
After the Ramadan month of fasting, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr with feasts and family visits.
The start of the holiday is traditionally based on sightings of the new moon, which vary according to geographic location.
“I want to pray for peace and unity in the country," said worshiper Mohamad Ufran Afridi, who attended the prayers at Jama Masjid.
