TV star Mary Portas is supposed to be helping some of the poorest towns in the country to save their high streets. But she is rumoured to have created discord in Margate by provoking the resignation of the leaders of the Margate Town Team who won the bid for regeneration funding. At one point she threatened Margate that if they didn't want to be filmed she would "get back on the train" and feature some other town. Is government regeneration funding being used for a reality TV show?
