Beethoven's first venture in the violin sonata format sets off with typical confidence with a
striking fanfare followed by a profusion of melodic ideas. The theme and variations which follow are more restrained and refined in character; but the finale, in 6/8 time, is an exhilarating romp. From the 2012 'Indian Summer in Levoca' Festival.
