If the video's length is 15 seconds or less, it's okay. It will fit in Instagram's Reels. If it's longer than 1 minute, You can make it an IGTV video. If it's above 15 or 30 seconds, but still is less than 1 minute, you'd have no option but to post it on your feed as a normal feed post just like you do with pictures or photos. That dilemma is not in anyone's favor, and it just exposes the lack of longterm design that Instagram represents. They take it one step at a time, and instead of providing a better solution to an already existing problem, they leave the same previously implemented feature or solution as it is, without modifying it, or making the new feature make up for the earlier feature's shortcomings. So you end up having a new feature that does not make up for the fact that the earlier feature was so annoying and useless, while at the same time does not give you anything that a better upgrade of the already existing feature would prove itself to be suffice. For example, if they only made IGTV videos with the option of allowing the video to be shorter than 1 minute, that is, it let's you post videos from 0 to 15 minutes or of any length as IGTV videos, we wouldn't be forced to make the video a reels video whether we like it or not.
In order to compete with TikTok, they told you that a 15 second video is bound to be a reels video, when in fact, TikTok is not just a platform for short videos.
This is why reels will never be a replacement of TikTok. If anything, they only made people appreciate TikTok even more, as a platform that understand why we want to make short videos with tons of features to add into the video while posting it inside the app, as opposed to editing videos on entirely external apps or programs, which is the case with even YouTube.
TikTok is about it being a place where you don't get to come across the more serious stuff that makes it embarrassing to have fun in such a childish or ridiculous manner.
The point is that you don't have to make the only way to post a video that is 45 seconds long to be posting it through an entirely new feature, and call it a feature that resembles what TikTok is all about, instead of just making the slight or tiny tweak to the already existing feature of IGTV, by making it possible to upload videos from 0 minutes to 15 minutes on it instead of only letting us upload videos of more than a minute on it.
You make us use the reels feature, when we don't want to, just because you're making a restrictive ridiculous rule which states that we can't put out videos shorter than a minute on IGTV.
And if the video is a second longer than the maximum length allowed for a reels video, you will cut the extra part out.
How could you be so infuriating?
Can you do anything to be more outrage inducing?
Everybody is trying to be less frustrating and annoying but you.
