Day 45 of one boating tip a day!
The surge, or as I like to call it, the pendulum effect, happens when you tie your boat too tight. When the boat moves for whatever reason, it pulls on one line, which pulls it back, and then the other line pulls it back again, and so on—almost like a pendulum. That constant jerking is bad for the boat, the cleats, the lines, and definitely for your beauty sleep. Look at yourself—you need that princess sleep!
So, when you let out a little bit, you give the boat more room, more distance, and time to slow down, rather than constantly pulling here and there.
So, play with it—ease the lines a little bit and see if it helps. Just be careful not to let out too much!
