Original music by Harold Faltermeyer
Cover produced by me
This is my tribute to one of the most magical and engaging intros ever, made by Harold Faltermeyer for the 1986 blockbuster Top Gun.
I remember as if it happened yesterday, I was just a 5 year old kid sitting on my uncle's 80s leather couch, and this powerful introduction inflamed my passion for aircrafts, as a certain predilection for those sounds and chords began to make its way.
Even today there are not many better examples of how synthesizers should be used to create a warm and unique atmosphere impossible for any other instrument. This is also a tribute to my nostalgia and memories, ubiquitous and faithful companions of my life.
Just to be clear. I am a child who loves aircrafts, but war is and will always be pure SHIT, no justification.
I used Logic Pro X and:
- Spectrasonics Omnisphere for the main Rolandish pad and the worst power chord sample ever
- TAL-Uno-LX for synth bass
- Yamaha Reface DX for the infamous FM Tubular Bell
- UVI U1250 for sampled strings
- UVI Emulation 2 for sampled bass
- Drum Machine Designer for the 808 sounds
