Dear friends, for the thirteenth time I have visited the monastery of St. Catherine on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt. This monastery was mentioned as early as the 4th century. The monks settled near the Burning Bush and were patronized by the holy Empress Helen, later Emperor Justinian built here the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord and walls with towers to protect the monastery. In the 8th century, the monks of the monastery found here the relics of the Holy Great Martyr Catherine on the top of the mountain, and from the 11th century the monastery began to be called the monasteries of St. Catherine. Here in the museum there is a magnificent exhibition of ancient icons and sacred texts.
