In this video: Chiuata National Park
Being only a 30 minute drive from Puerto Viejo, Chiuata National Park is an easy day trip. You can hire a guide to spot all the flora and fauna that normal people would never find. We opted to go on our own and were glad we did. The park was basically a long trail with the ocean on one side and the jungle on the other. The shade from the trees made the hike very comfortable, Only downside of the park is that they don’t offer drinks or snacks so make sure you go prepared. We found that as we walked we would see the guides showing people where to look and when they moved on we would just slide in and find what they were pointing at. The highlight was seeing sloths and monkeys but there was much more from spiders and colorful frogs to crocodiles. A few hours is plenty of time.
