This video demonstrates how to adjust a swing door latch and is part of a series of walk-in cooler door maintenance videos.
Artic Temp manufactures walk-in coolers and freezers, and cold storage doors, made to order for foodservice, retail, pharmaceutical, and industrial uses, with plants on the East Coast and West Coast of the United States.
The adjustment should take only a minute or two.
For this adjustment, you need only a Phillips head screwdriver.
Check to see that the latch is not closing properly by opening and closing the door.
If the door is closed, but the latch does not spring into place, then open the door again and loosen the adjustment screw on the inside of the strike. Then loosen the adjustment screw on the outside of the strike.
Once both adjustment screws are loose, pull the strike out from the door frame as far as possible.
Now close the door carefully, move the striker to snug up against the latch, and tighten the outside adjustment screw. Then open the door making sure the striker does not move and tighten the inside adjustment screw.
The adjustment is complete, but test the door opening and closing a few times to make sure the adjustment screws hold the striker position and the door closes properly.
