ABOUT THIS LECTURE: The Center for Jewish Studies at ASU is immensely pleased to host distinguished public intellectual and award-winning journalist from Poland, Konstanty Gebert. Gebert is the author of over ten books on Polish Jewry, Israeli history and politics, Polish democracy, and Torah commen- tary. His most recent publications include a history of Israeli statehood and a study on comparative genocide. During the 1970s, under communism, he joined the Polish democratic opposition and organized the Jewish Flying University for the clandestine study of Judaism and Jewish culture. After 1989, he wrote for the Polish New York Times, Gazeta Wyborcza, and founded Midrasz, the first Jewish intellectual monthly in post-communist Poland.
