In this sessions, Bhupesh Sir will discuss the chapter 7 -Haloalkanes And Haloarene . Alcohols, phenols, and ethers are all organic compounds with a variety of industrial and domestic uses:
Alcohols
Formed when a saturated carbon atom bonds with a hydroxyl (-OH) group. The general formula for an alcohol is R − O H, where R represents an alkyl group.
Phenols
Formed when a hydrogen atom in a benzene molecule is replaced by the -OH group. The general formula for a phenol is ∙ O H C 6 H 5. Phenols are more acidic than alcohols because the phenoxide ion is stabilized through resonance.
Ethers
Formed when an oxygen atom is connected to two alkyl or aryl groups. Ethers are produced when primary alcohols react with protic acids (H2SO4, H3PO4).
Alcohols and phenols can be considered derivatives of water because an aliphatic group replaces hydrogen in alcohols and an aromatic group replaces hydrogen in phenols. If you are Class 12 aspirant, this video is for you.
