Lee Anderson, the Conservative MP for Ashfield, has claimed there is no “massive use” for food banks in Britain, instead suggesting “generation after generation” were unable to cook or budget properly.
The remarks come as the government faces intense criticism over support available to the most vulnerable amid a cost-of-living crisis and during energy bills.
In response, the SNP’s Joanna Cherry said: “All of us have food banks in our constituencies, we don’t really need to visit his because we’re perfectly well aware of the requirement for them.
