Last December, Salman Khan was acquitted of all charges in the 2002 hit and run case which killed one and injured three people who were sleeping on the pavement. The actor claimed he wasn’t behind the wheel when the accident took place. But the widow and son of the deceased aren’t convinced. After the Maharashtra Government, they have also challenged the verdict meted to Salman on the basis that the accident killed the sole bread winner of the family. Today, they filed a petition in the Supreme Court.
According to a daily, son and wife of Nurulla Khan, the person who died on that fateful night, work as daily wagers. After Khan’s death, they had to depend on NGOs for survival, the petition read. They are also asking for compensation. That made us wonder because when Salman was acquitted of all charges in December last year, Feroz Shaikh, the son of the victim, had told a daily, “I forgive Salman, but now I don’t know who killed my father. It has been 13 years… even today, the question remains unanswered. The verdict has not brought any closure.”
So if he is forgiven him, why challenge the verdict or ask for compensation for that matter? It seems Salman’s woes are not over yet.
