Are you ready to start investing but can't figure out which broker is better between Vanguard vs Fidelity vs Schwab? Well, I've got you covered in this video. #vanguard #fidelity #charlesschwab
When you think about your investments, it's likely one of the first places your mind wanders is to your brokerage. For long-term investors with an interest in diverse, low-fee mutual funds and ETFs, Vanguard, Fidelity and Charles Schwab are three clear leaders.
All three (Vanguard, Fidelity, and Charles Schwab) are popular for their lack of commissions, large selections of index funds, and good customer service.
Let's dive into the details to figure out which discount brokerage is best for you.
Vanguard - Founded in 1975, Vanguard is best known for its low-fee mutual and exchange-traded funds. As of April 2019, Vanguard is the largest provider of mutual funds and the second-largest provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) by assets under management.
Fidelity - Fidelity was founded in 1946 and is the largest broker-dealer in the United States, with $6.7 trillion in assets under management. Of that, about $2.2 trillion is invested in Fidelity's own family of funds. Fidelity supports 3,645 mutual funds and 358 ETFs with no transaction fees. For ETFs, you won't pay commission on Fidelity funds or a select list of ETFs from iShares.
A list of Fidelity Zero Expense Ratio Funds:
1. Fidelity Zero Total Market Index Fund (FZROX)
2. Fidelity Large Cap Index Fund (FNILX)
3. Fidelity Zero Extended Market Index Fund (FZIPX)
4. Fidelity Zero International Index Fund (FZILX)
Charles Schwab- It doesn't have quite as many commission-free funds as Fidelity or Vanguard, but it offers plenty for the typical investor. For passively managed mutual funds, Schwab charges an average of 0.04%. It charges 0.69%, on average, for actively managed funds, which is in line with the industry. Credit to Eric Rosenberg.
